Pittstown's appearance today as a small, compact linear village has resulted from the two main periods of its development. The Pittstown Historic District, located in Franklin Township and Alexandria Township, meets National Register criteria in the areas of agriculture, architecture, early settlement, industry, transportation, and military history.
